Dr Jeyaraj D Pandian is a Professor of Neurology and the Principal of Christian Medical College (CMC), Ludhiana, Punjab, India. He got elected as the Vice-President of World Stroke Organization (WSO) for a two-year term. He is the first Asian to take up this position.
He served two terms as a board of Director of WSO from Asia/Oceania region for 6 years from 2008, and he was the past Chair of World Stroke Campaign International Working Group of WSO. He is a member of the Stroke Research and the WSO Policy committees. He is also in the editorial board of International Journal of Stroke, Journal of Stroke and European Stroke Journal.
During his earlier tenure with WSO he won the bid to host the Xth World Stroke Congress in Hyderabad in the year 2016. He was the Co-chair of Congress which had a huge impact to stroke care in the region. Dr Pandian has made significant contribution to stroke care services in low and middle-income countries. He is the National PI for the newly created Indian Stroke Clinical Trial Network (INSTRuCT).
